Gaming is fun, and so should collaborating & navigating diverse challenges and solution spaces be..

The Glaring Reality game is a physical simulation game wherein teams work together on the game board to solve challenges through different levels, scenarios & contexts under uncertainty.

As the players move through different levels - from simple to complicated to complex to wicked problems and chaos, they encounter resonance points which prompt moments of shift and reflection sparks. These lead to challenging of assumptions, and gaining collective understanding of perspectives & mental models, paving way for deeper systemic insights, understanding, circularity, & learning.

The Glaring Reality Game workshop has been organised for different organizations such as Hardanger Akademiet for Peace, Sustainability & Environment, Bergen Kommune to name some. Participants have ranged from scientists, professors, filmmakers, bureaucrats, innovation professionals, business professionals, activists, MIT and UiB PhD students, International youth panelists, cooperatives, farmers..

Keywords in feedback from participants in the game workshop have been: fun, engaging, exciting, learning, team, collaboration, systems, breaking barriers, common understanding, unintended side-effects, perspectives…

What participants (& organisers) have been saying about the Glaring Reality Game experience and facilitation by Himanshu:

It was amazing how Himanshu used the game to engage the whole group and help us learn such important concepts

Playing the game with the team was so much fun and the whole workshop was such a learning experience. And we should do it more often!

Le Magnifique! A superb experience! Very good opportunity to build team!

This was truly informative. Appreciated the whole process of this session, a good opportunity to work collaborative in addressing the complex issues of today. The birds eye-view in dealing with issues was a great eye opener. Truly thankful!

Apart from fun, I liked the fact that it is so customisable and can be adapted & applied to so many domains

Really enjoyed the workshop also because Glaring Reality is a physical and non-academic game. It really helped in removing the mental barriers and provoked engaging discussions in the teams. It helped us understand each others’ perspectives

Glaring Reality is so simple yet so creative game to reduce barriers, experience group dynamics and systems understanding

The game workshop was one of the main highlight of the event for me!

I loved the idea of using using the game as a metaphor for systemic problems

This is a work of art! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and creativity with us!

The session is so instrumental!

It was such an interesting session, and so glad the OOYP really enjoyed , and found fruitful, both the game and the discussions and reflections afterwards

The game is so simple but so engaging and you can go so amazingly deep with levels, modes, scorings and scenarios for different contexts!

The Glaring Reality game is so much fun and insightful. It was the highlight of the event

Himanshu Ardawatia thank you so much for conducting your Simulation Game. It was fascinating to see how it laid the groundwork for deep reflection and conversations about interconnectedness – challenging assumptions, bringing mental models to light, and building collective understanding. It pawed way for deeper systemic insight and tackling wicked problems⭐️

Connecting theoretical concepts and models via the interactive Glaring Reality Simulation game was a brilliant approach. Experiencing the different stages of the game not only clarified the theories but also showed how they work in practice, which made the seminar both engaging and memorable.

The Glaring Reality simulation game was a great activity where participants were able to build new connections, work together to solve problems, and apply their insights to real-world wicked problems. Through a systems thinking lens, the game helped us see interconnections, feedback loops, unintended consequences, and the broader patterns shaping complex challenges.

Himanshu was a great facilitator, guiding the group through tough discussions, surfacing different mental models, and helping them provide new perspectives on we can all work together to solve these challenges. He created a space where diverse perspectives could connect, enabling shared understanding and more holistic approach.I would highly recommend reaching out if you are considering hosting any sort of team building or networking event that aims to strengthen collaboration, systems awareness, and collective problem-solving capacity.”
